Chanthy Anson BnB: Your Taitung Paradise Awaits!
Chanthy Anson BnB: Taitung - It's Not Just a Hotel, It's a Vibe (and Boy, Does Taitung Need That!)
Okay, so I just got back from Chanthy Anson BnB in Taitung, and let me tell you, my brain is STILL thawing out from the city. It wasn't just a trip, it was an experience, a damn good one, and I think you should know about it. Forget the sterile hotel chains, this place? This place is Taitung paradise with a capital P-A-R-A-D-I-S-E.
First things first: Accessibility. Now, I'm not wheelchair-bound, but I’ve traveled with people who are. And I always look for places that get it. Chanthy Anson? I’m giving them a thumbs up here. While I can't give a full report on the minutiae (they should have specific details on their site), I know they offer Facilities for disabled guests. That's a HUGE plus. They seem to be trying, and believe me, that makes a difference.
Forget the endless hotel room with no personality.
It’s all about the chill, man.
And boy, did they nail it. Now, let's talk about what really matters… FOOD! (Because let's be honest, that's like, 80% of the travel experience, right?)
Dining, Drinking, and Snacking: A Foodie's Dream (Mostly!)
Okay, so, they have a Restaurant. And not just any restaurant. They have Asian cuisine. And International cuisine. It’s a decent restaurant. It's where I had a Breakfast [buffet]. I was starving after my epic hiking adventure. The coffee was… well, it was coffee. But the Asian breakfast options were actually pretty good. Their noodles? Delish. They also have a Bar and Poolside bar, which I unfortunately missed due to just being so zonked out. The menu included Salad in restaurant, Soup in restaurant, and Desserts in restaurant. I did check them out, and I also checked out the Coffee/tea in restaurant.
They actually serve Bottle of water, at least in the room. That's always a win with me.
Now, I'm usually a big fan of the Breakfast in room, but I went with the buffet option. The restaurant’s Buffet in restaurant was certainly good, the Coffee shop was a godsend! The option to have Room service [24-hour] is a lifesaver too. And the few times I went, they arranged Alternative meal arrangement for me. I found the Vegetarian restaurant, and I am not sure what they serve.
Now, my only slight issue? I wish they had a few more Snack bar options. All options, are a la carte. It's not a deal breaker, but a late-night craving for something salty can be a real struggle.
Cleanliness and Safety: My Inner Germaphobe Rejoiced!
Look, I'm a travel-induced germaphobe so I'm always looking for the details of Cleanliness and safety. Chanthy Anson wins big here. Honestly, I felt safer there than I do at home sometimes. They had Anti-viral cleaning products (phew!), Daily disinfection in common areas (double phew!), Hand sanitizer everywhere (triple phew!). I think they have Professional-grade sanitizing services.
And the staff? They're incredibly well trained in safety protocol. They definitely take hygiene super seriously. They provide Individually-wrapped food options, and Sanitized kitchen and tableware items too. Plus, they use Sterilizing equipment and the staff. Plus, I loved that there was Cashless payment service because I like to be safe. Not that I saw a lot of people around anyway.
They offered:
Room sanitization opt-out available Rooms sanitized between stays Safe dining setup Shared stationery removed Staff trained in safety protocol First aid kit Doctor/nurse on call
All this, is comforting!
Relax & Unwind… or Don't, Because Options!
Things to do, ways to relax:
Okay, listen up. This is where Chanthy Anson really shines. Forget just a pool, they have a Pool with view! Let me tell you, watching the sunrise over Taitung while floating in that pool? Pure magic.
The "Spa" section is a must!
They offer Body scrub, Body wrap, Foot bath, Massage, Spa, and Sauna! I went to the Spa/sauna, and let me tell you, it was an experience. I'm not usually one for spa treatments but after a long day of exploring, that massage was life-changing. The staff even offered aromatherapy, and I took them up on it! I was a puddle of bliss afterward.
There's also a Steamroom. Swimming pool, and Swimming pool [outdoor]. It’s perfect for chilling out, for sure. If you are into it, there is also the Fitness center, and Gym/fitness.
I'm telling you, you’ll fall asleep.

Alright, buckle up buttercup, because this ain't your grandma's perfectly-formatted travel itinerary. We're heading to Chanthy Anson BnB in Taitung, Taiwan, and I'm already a nervous, excited, slightly-hangry wreck. Here's the mess I've concocted… and honestly, pray for me.
The Great Taitung Adventure: A (Hopefully) Coherent Mess
Day 1: Arrival and Immediate Panic
- 07:00 - 09:00: The Pre-Flight Freakout. Okay, so I thought I packed everything. But did I? Probably not. I'm currently convinced I forgot my passport, my toothbrush, and possibly my brain. Already downed two coffees and considering a third. Wish me luck surviving the airport.
- 09:00 - 14:00: The Flight. Or, "How I Learned to Embrace Aisle Seat Regret." Plane food? Don't even ask. Let's just say I'm thankful for the tiny bottle of wine I smuggled on board. And the screaming toddler behind me? She's now my spirit animal, because same. Arrival at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. The chaotic beauty of it is already starting to hit me.
- 14:00 - 18:00: The Train to Taitung. AKA, "Taiwan's Public Transport: A Masterclass in Mild Confusion." Okay, so the High Speed Rail is actually pretty slick. Thank god Google Translate exists because I'm pretty sure I just bought a ticket to…somewhere. Hopefully, it's Taitung. The scenery whizzing by is gorgeous, though – rice paddies, mountains… I think I'm falling in love.
- 18:00 - 19:00: Chanthy Anson BnB - Arrival and (Mostly) Relief. Found it! Chanthy Anson is even prettier in real life than the photos. The relief of finally arriving is immense. The owner welcomed me with a welcome drink (they are the best!). Immediate dive into unpacking and collapsing on the bed – I'm done. Utterly, gloriously done.
- 19:00 - 21:00: Getting Lost… on Purpose, and Supper. I need food. Now. I think I'll just wander aimlessly in the neighborhood and hope I stumble upon something edible. Maybe I'll grab some local street food. Or maybe I'll just end up staring blankly at a menu in Mandarin for an hour. Either way, it'll be an "experience". Update: Found a little shop selling what I think are dumplings? They were amazing, even if I have no idea what was in them.
Day 2: The Coastal Craze and Surfing Shenanigans (Kind Of)
- 08:00 - 09:00: Breakfast Bonanza. The BnB owner promised an amazing breakfast. Praying it's not just toast. I'll be honest, the breakfast exceeded my expectations. Delicious.
- 09:00 - 12:00: The Coastal Road Trip AKA "Wind, Waves, and the Constant Fear of Crashing." Rent a scooter! Apparently, it's the thing to do. Wish me luck. I'm pretty sure I'm going to die.
- 12:00 - 13:00: Lunch at a random Seafood shack Fresh seafood, need I say more?
- 13:00-16:00: Surfing Lesson and Complete Humiliation. Okay, so the "surfing" part didn't go so well. I spent most of my time face-planting in the water and swallowing seawater. Let's just say I'm better at admiring the waves than riding them. But the views! The energy! The attempt was worth it. And now I crave surfing now.
- 16:00 - 18:00: Return to the BnB for a hot shower. A much-needed shower to wash off the sea salt and defeat.
- 18:00 - 21:00: Dinner and a Stroll Along the Beach. Found a small restaurant that served fresh seafood. The food was delicious, and it was so refreshing to chat with the local.
Day 3: Culture, Coffee, and Contemplation (Maybe)
- 08:00 - 09:00: Breakfast Again. Please let there be more of that amazing breakfast!
- 09:00 - 12:00: Staying local. I wander through the local markets, and discover a new café.
- 12:00 - 13:00: Lunch with locals.
- 13:00 - 16:00: Hike up the small mountain. I wish I could have brought someone with me, but this experience is a truly beautiful feeling. I see the entire Taitung from the top, and feel so at peace.
Day 4: Saying Goodbye (And Possibly Crying)
- 08:00 - 09:00: Last Breakfast. I'm already mourning the deliciousness I'll be leaving behind.
- 09:00 - 12:00: Souvenir Shopping and Panicked Packing. I'm terrible at souvenirs. I'll probably end up buying something completely useless.
- 12:00 - 14:00: Depart to train station and train to the airport.
- 14:00 - 19:00: Flight.
- 19:00: Arrive Home.
Important Notes (AKA, Rambling Thoughts):
- Luggage: Pray my suitcase doesn’t explode.
- Language: I know approximately three words in Mandarin. This could be a disaster.
- Food: I'm here to eat everything. Especially delicious Taiwan food.
- Expectations: Low. That way, everything will be a pleasant surprise.
- Emotional State: Highly unstable. Send chocolate and/or therapy.
- The ultimate goal: to come back when I have more money
This entire "itinerary" is a work in progress, subject to change at a moment's notice. My plans are as likely to unravel as my patience at the airport. But hey, that's part of the fun, right? And honestly? I'm bursting with a mix of fear and excitement. Taitung, here I come! Wish me luck – I'm gonna need it.
Escape to Paradise: Refron du Mar's Unforgettable Paraty Getaway
Okay, spill the tea. What *actually* is Chanthy Anson BnB? I'm seeing pictures of paradise but let's be real... is it *actually* paradise?
Alright, straight up? It's pretty darn close. Look, I'm a cynical New Yorker, okay? I expect things to be... well, you know, *not* what they claim. But Chanthy Anson? Yeah, it’s got some magic. I’m talking lush gardens bursting with color – I swear I saw a hummingbird the size of my thumb – airy rooms with ridiculously comfy beds, and views that'll make you want to chuck your phone in the nearest rice paddy (though, don’t, because you'll need it to take a million more photos). The vibe is chilled. Like, *really* chilled. Think less "hotel," more "being adopted by a super-friendly family in Taitung." So, paradise? Maybe not *exactly*, because, hello, reality! But close. Pretty damn close.
What's the deal with the food? I've heard rumors… magical rumors… and I'm a hungry traveler.
The food… oh, the food. Prepare to loosen your belt buckle. Seriously. Breakfast is included, and it's a glorious spread. Think fresh fruit you've never seen before, fluffy omelets, and *incredible* local pastries that made me seriously consider extending my stay just to keep eating them. And then there was this one dinner… a barbecue the owner organized. Best. Pork. Ever. They marinated it in something… I have *no* idea what… but it was pure heaven. Just be warned: you might accidentally eat yourself into a food coma. Totally worth it. The only downside? Eventually, you have to leave and go back to your regular, boring meals. *Sigh*.
I'm a city slicker. I need my Wi-Fi and hot showers. Are we talking "rustic charm" that sacrifices basic comforts?
Okay, listen. I get it. I’m glued to my phone, too. And yes, the area is a little more… rural… than Manhattan. But the Wi-Fi is surprisingly decent. I managed to upload Instagram stories (humblebrag alert!) and actually get some work done. And the hot showers? Glorious. Steaming hot, with good water pressure. Luxury! Let's be clear: this isn't a five-star hotel with a butler offering you a mint julep while you soak in a gold-plated tub. But it's comfortable, modern enough, and clean as a whistle. They even have air conditioning – essential in Taiwan's humidity! – so you can actually *sleep* during the summer. So, no, it's not roughing it. It's perfectly balanced.
What's the staff like? Are they genuine, or just faking niceness for tips?
The staff… *sigh*. They’re freaking amazing. Okay, I'll admit, I'm a sucker for genuinely nice people. And the Chanthy Anson crew? They're the real deal. They were so warm and welcoming… like being adopted by a really cool Taiwanese family. They were helpful and friendly. They helped me with all sorts of things, like directions, suggesting local restaurants, and even helping me book a tour. I even managed to butcher some Mandarin with them, and they didn't make fun of me *too* much. It’s not faked. I actually *miss* them. That's the problem. You become friends, and then it's time to leave. Heartbreak, I tell you. Heartbreak.
What can I actually DO in Taitung? Is it just… relaxing? (Because I'm also easily bored.)
Relaxing is a *significant* part of it, yes. But Taitung is more than just lying in a hammock (though, trust me, there's plenty of time for that). There's hiking – I swear it's the most beautiful hiking I've ever done – incredible beaches, surfing, cycling (they have bikes available!), and exploring the local culture. I took a trip to the Mr. Brown Avenue – the perfect postcard shot! I was thinking: finally, a place where the pictures *actually* match the reality. I ended up spending a whole afternoon just wandering around, taking photos, and feeling… genuinely content. And, yes, there’s a night market in Taitung City! Get ready for street food overload. Seriously, leave room in your suitcase for snacks.
Okay, the one thing you *didn't* like? Spill! No place is perfect!
Alright, alright, I’ll be honest. I’m trying to think… Okay, this is going to sound ridiculous, but… Leaving. Leaving was the worst part. Actually, it was truly *awful*. The owner, whose name I'm purposely not mentioning so I don't sound like a shill, gave me a big hug on the way out. That nearly broke me. I seriously considered hiding in my room and pretending I was still on vacation. The other "bad" part? The fact that now, I'm constantly comparing everywhere else to Chanthy Anson. It’s ruined me for all future BnBs.
Is it kid-friendly? I'm travelling with the small humans.
I didn't have kids with me, but I saw plenty of families there, and the whole vibe seemed incredibly welcoming. The grounds are spacious, with lots of room for kids to run around and explore (safely, of course). There’s a real relaxed atmosphere, and the staff seemed genuinely good with the younger guests. So my guess? Yep. Kid-friendly. Definitely. Just make sure to pack the sunscreen and bug spray! The only thing I'd be worried about? Keeping your kids from *also* wanting to adopt the whole BnB family.
How do I get there? And is it a pain in the butt?
Getting there's easy enough. You can fly into Taitung Airport (TTT) – that's my preference, quicker and less grueling. From there, taxis and ride-sharing (like Uber) are available. Or, you can take the train from Taipei or other major cities. It's a pretty scenic ride, actually, but it does take a while. The BnB can usually help you arrange airport transfers, which is definitely the easiest option. Just book in advance. Trust me, you won't want to be stuck figuring out public transport with jet lag. And honestly? The journey is part of the adventure!
